Users of social media such as Facebook and Twitter to buy and sell the public on food assistance benefits recipients are cheating more honest, who need help most. State officials have to put an end to this policy, and one way to do it is to require photos FoodShare Quest card. Emergency cards are some of the safety level.
For some users this may create FoodShare tribulation, in particular those who are elderly or sick. The greater the needs should be given the opportunity to use their card to a friend or family member.
But right now, all that needs to use the Quest card is the 4-digit ID number. For those who report on their card is lost or stolen card, and get in an emergency situation should be checked and the ID card. Without verification that the card is as good as cash, and that the wrong hands can sell, use drugs or alcohol trade.
The Journal Sentinel reporters Jason Stein and Raquel Rutledge reported Sunday, nine Facebook users in Milwaukee, and around 70 nationwide have been posted to either buy or sell food assistance benefits illegally, or help others make to Facebook.
The report exposed a second example of how easy it is to illegally sell the State-of-cards in circulation and its benefits. It illustrates also that those who have little concern about this to get caught.
This is not the same as in need of a photo ID voting. Voter fraud has been limited and few cases of seized has not prevented by requiring a photo ID to vote.
This is not true of food stamps: in April, the newspaper reported almost 2,000 recipients claiming they FoodShare had lost their cards, at least six times in the year 2010 and the nature of the replacements. FoodShare is a good idea and even if the claim that adding photos to a Quest cards would cost too much money and fraud is not widespread, reports newspaper tell a different story. Fraud in the existing system and adding FoodShare photos Quest card to add a layer of security and accountability.
People who cheat the system to make money. They hurt the other, that are dependent on the very system to feed their families. And harm to the credibility of the system for the taxpayers and the State. To demonstrate that the system has an additional layer of security are enough red flags. Member States should provide it.
