In the past 30 years, the number of incarcerated Americans have grown more than 2,4 million, approximately 500,000. This increase does not involve any increase or reduction in crime. When the crime rate has decreased, the penalties are increased. When the number of crimes has increased, the penalties are increased. When the crime rate has stayed the same, the penalties are increased.
Increased criminal penalties is the result of a longer sentence, less paroles and probations and to facilitate the withdrawal of the parole and probation. It is the crime rate in the affected or safer for us, but it has raised taxes. Imprisoning people, with 2 million is very expensive and Chisholm has the right to claim, we need to solve this problem.
Chisholm's proposal may seem a "liberal" to oppose the idea of the conservative party, but that does not exist. Chisholm's proposal is not liberal or conservative; It is common sense.
