A "Duck" is a vehicle, the both a car and a boat. Originally designed for world war (and given the name DUKW), a duck leave right from the edge of a railway and float in the water. While certainly not the only way to see the famous Wisconsin Dells on the water and ashore is riding in a duck of one of the unique experiences in Wisconsin.
Of course there are still other places in America to this unique amphibious army vehicles drive. Boston, offers, for example, similar tours through the town and the Charles River. The Dells, however visit see the Wisconsin River in a duck is a must - is bumpy, the "Splashdowns" (going from land to water) are intense, but it is a unique enough experience, recommend to anyone in this part of Wisconsin.
Many interesting attractions include duck tours not only the Dell itself. There are many forested trails throughout the region that are reserved only for these tours. So people on things to see no duck, you see only somewhere else. Slopes-ing on the tour company, the ducks can enter surprisingly quiet and secluded away just a few short miles sections of the wild from the bustling center of Commerce. You rotate and spin their way to the River through the forest. If you water landing, passengers can be a bit wet. From there you float the River, finally make your way back to land. Ducks are each about 20 passengers for these tours. The entire tour takes about an hour and run only during the warm season.
There are two large companies currently with duck tours in Wisconsin Dells, both in competition with each other for your business:
Original Wisconsin-Enten
The original Wisconsin-Enten has been 60 years tour of the valleys and Wisconsin River. Have the largest fleet of ducks in the United States – have about 1 / 3 of the approximately 300 operational ducks in the nation. The tour is approximately 8 miles through the city, the wilderness and the Wisconsin River. Some of the trails are exclusively for the original Wisconsin ducks. This tour operates exclusively on the lower Dells part of the River (South of the dam) and explores offroad in many places throughout the journey.
Despite the name, there is nothing about these ducks inherently "original". They came from the same world war form the other ducks in the United States act. You are "original" that the ducks were originally used for combat during the war and have since then renovated (ducks are discontinued and have not since the 1950s). However, this is a fantastic tour that should not be missed.
Dells army duck
Dells army duck counts several tours offered by Dell's glacial Park tours. These ducks are passing through the lower Dells and Lake Delton, see more of Lake Delton and residential and commercial areas. Dells army duck offers a small fleet and a more intimate experience. This tour is ideal for those, the Wisconsin Dells see more populated areas interested; drive around the streets of the city on a very unique aquatic vehicle.
Dell's glacial Park Tours offers the ducks one more standard boat tour, the Mark Twain upper Dells tour. The tour takes about an hour on the 15-mile journey. There are no stops on this tour; but the boat close to many famous attractions pulls while you learn about the history of the Dells. The tour has regular departures during the warm months.
